Join us for Taste of Oakmont! Celebrate cultures from around the world with food, fun and entertainment - free to attend and open to all. We need your help to make it a success! Families are generously sharing dishes from their cultures, and we are looking for volunteers to help with food distributions and event set up.

Yearbooks must be purchased by April 27th in order to guarantee they receive a yearbook. We will have limited quantities available on a first come first served basis after this date.

Each spring, students in grades 3–6 participate in CAASPP, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress. This statewide assessment helps measure how well students are understanding grade-level standards in English Language Arts, Math, and Science (5th grade only). The results provide valuable information to guide instruction and support student growth.

Students have been participating in various tests on the same platform that the summative test is administered. These tests are given on the iPad, and I encourage you to visit the CAASPP website to participate in the practice and training tests with your child. You will see that these tests are very different than the multiple choice tests we are familiar with from several years ago. While you can access these tests on your computer, accessing it from the iPad will allow your child to practice using the different tools with the iPad. If your child has accommodations as listed on their IEP's, you can turn those on for the practice tests, too. They are automatically enabled when a student logs to the summative tests.

Common testing errors that we see from students is not reading the directions and questions carefully which is preventing them from getting the question correct even when they know the answer. For example, the directions might state to support their answer with three examples from the text, but the students only give one example.

As 6th graders are away at camp this week, we will continue with neurodiversity lessons the following week. For the week of April 28-May 2, we will be focusing on anxiety and depression.
