Oakmont Update

February 15, 2025
Oakmont Front

Hello families,

Yesterday, we completed our second round of math rotations. Students were grouped based on assessment results and teacher input to receive targeted instruction at their instructional level. During this 30-minute block, they joined peers working on the same skill, whether for remediation, grade-level support, or acceleration. This round focused on fundamental math skills, including fact fluency, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fraction operations. We take pride in meeting students where they are to support their learning.

Our next rotations begin on February 24th, launching a five-week cycle of reading instruction. This round will focus on reading comprehension and constructed response questions.

I am excited to share, with permission from Mrs. Stern, that her twins have arrived! The Stern family is doing fantastic. While we miss her at Oakmont, we are thrilled for her and her growing family. Mrs. Stern plans to remain on maternity leave for the rest of the school year, though that is subject to change. In the meantime, to maintain consistency for the classes and groups she works with, we have long-term substitutes in place. Ms. Andrea is wrapping up her time, and beginning Wednesday, Mrs. Schwartz will step in for the next 30 days. We are fortunate to have dedicated substitutes who work closely with our school and teachers to provide stability for our students.
