Oakmont Update

December 14, 2024
Oakmont Front

Hello families,

I can't believe how fast December is flying by and that we are already entering the last week before break! Please remember that Friday is a minimum day - students will need to be picked up at 1:00.

As the holiday season is upon us, I want to remind you of our no outside food policy as stated in our Family Handbook:

Oakmont adheres to CUSD’s wellness policy, which requires us to consider nutritional quality when providing food to students, including those served at class parties or brought in for birthdays. In addition, many students have food allergies and it is both dangerous and socially isolating to bring certain foods into their classrooms. Therefore, we will enforce the following policies:

Food of any kind may not be sent to school for birthdays or holiday celebrations.  Food treats will not be served or distributed in class, at lunch or recess, or after school. If you choose to send a food treat, it will be held in the office for you to pick up.

If you wish to do something special, we welcome donations of books or non-food treats such as special pencils, erasers, stickers, bubbles, small play-dough containers, etc.!

We are so grateful to Rebecca for supporting our school community in such a creative and meaningful way. Thank you to the families who participated and helped make this fundraiser a success!

Anonymous Reporting

At Oakmont, we are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, equitable, and respectful environment where all students can thrive. The Anonymous Reporting Form allows students, staff, and families to report concerns anonymously about events that occur at school, including those related to bullying, discrimination, inequity, inappropriate behavior, or any other situation impacting student well-being. The link below will be included in each newsletter and will be posted in each classroom.

The 35th Annual Making Change Contest

Making Change Contest
The Making Change Contest is an opportunity for Claremont students to honor and remember the sacrifices made by individuals, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who sought to make the world a better place. Students (K-12) who attend school in Claremont are eligible to enter the contest. For more information, click the image.

Attendance

As we enter cold and flu season, I want to remind you of the importance of keeping our school community healthy. Attached, you will find a helpful resource to guide you in determining whether your child should stay home from school or not.

If your child is exhibiting a fever, please make arrangements for them to remain at home until they are no longer contagious. While we value daily attendance and the learning opportunities it brings, sending a sick child to school can put others at risk and rest at home is best for your child.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students, staff, and families healthy.

Follow this link to the CUSD's Showing Up Together website page for guidelines on when to keep your child at home and other health services.
