Hello families,
We had an exciting week at Oakmont. We participated in the Great ShakeOut and our students did a fabulous job! Not only did they duck, cover, and hold during the drill, they also walked very quietly out to our meeting location on the field. This allowed the staff to give directions as needed. I am so proud of our owls!
On Friday, our transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students went on a walking field trip to the Claremont library. They learned about how to get a library card, check out books, and how to return a book to the shelf after looking at it.
Our clubs have started at Oakmont, and this is very exciting. Cheer and Tumble, Game Club, and Media Club are in full swing. We have Student Council elections underway. It is so great seeing our students getting involved!
Our annual mask parade will take place on October 31st at 10:30 in the quad. Classrooms have been working on their masks and are excited to share them with the rest of the school. Families are invited to attend! Please note, that students are not to wear their Halloween costumes to school.
We have our first Bucket Filler Assembly on Friday, October 25th. During this assembly, each teacher will pick a student who has exemplified responsibility and another student who has exemplified kindness. We will recognize students who have filled up their first track card by running 25 miles. Finally, we will draw 5 random Bucket Filler slips that students have been earning all year. These students will get to eat lunch with me (on another day). It is very important to note, that only the parents/guardians of the students who are receiving a character award (responsibility and kindness) will be notified. If a child is getting a track award or a Bucket Filler award, their parents are not going to be notified by their teacher. Please ask your child if they ran 25 miles and turned in their card to Mrs. Cheryl in the office. Parents are welcome to attend the assembly regardless.
We are very excited about the approaching Family Costume Ball on Saturday, October 25th! The planning committee has spent hours prepping for another fun dance. We want to thank you for all the donations as this helps to make the event even more special. I am looking forward to seeing students, families, and staff members having a great time!
