Oakmont Update

January 18, 2025
Oakmont Front

Hello families,

During our recent Earthquake Drill, we conducted a more comprehensive practice to ensure the safety and preparedness of our school community. Each staff member has a specific role in the event of an earthquake, from accounting for all students to assisting with communication and first aid if needed. This drill allowed us to practice these roles and refine our procedures for a real emergency. Safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to being ready for any situation.

Students will be taking the iReady Diagnostics for both reading and math, as well as the iReady Literacy Tasks, throughout January. These assessments, administered three times a year, provide us with valuable insights into your child's progress. We use the results to measure growth since the beginning of the year, guide intervention groups, and customize their individualized learning pathways for iReady time in class. Please talk with your child about the importance of putting forth their best effort every day, working hard on all assignments and tests, and asking for help whenever they need it. Your encouragement makes a big difference!

TK/K Open House/Orientation

We are having our annual TK/K Open House/Orientation on January 23rd from 10:30-11:30 am. If you have an incoming TK or K student, please come. If you know of any families that have an incoming TK/K student, please share this information!

Winterfest!

Winterfest is this Friday from 5:00-6:00 pm! Please join us with your family to participate in some crafts, activities, and snacks with our teachers. We are excited to introduce a dedicated space in room 4 designed for students who may feel overstimulated. This space provides a calm, supportive environment where students can regulate and feel comfortable during the event. We are committed to creating inclusive experiences for all our families and look forward to hearing your feedback as we explore ways to better support every student’s unique needs.
