Reclassification Celebration at Mountain View Elementary School

Mountain View Elementary School recently held a reclassification celebration for students who successfully exited the English Learner program. Students and their families were invited to celebrate this achievement alongside their teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators. It was a beautiful moment of recognition and joy.

Summative ELPAC Testing Begins Feb. 3rd -May 31st

English Learner students have begun taking the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC). This year, the test will be given to all English Learners between February 3rd and May 30th of 2025. This test consists of four sections including reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Test scores will be uploaded into the Parent Connect portal for parents to access 6 to 8 weeks after the test is taken. You will also receive a notification in the summer with your student's test scores. If you do not have a Parent Connect account, please either contact your school site, or access the online application on the CUSD website under the “Parent-Parent Resources and Links” tab. If you do have a Parent Connect account but do not know your login information, you can email parentconnect@cusd.claremont.edu to gain access to that information.

English Proficiency Testing and Reclassification

How do English Language Learners Reclassify?

In order for English Learners to reclassify, students must meet the following criteria:  

1.Pass the Summative ELPAC ( English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) with an overall Level 4 score

2.Pass the Basic Skills Tests as follows:

  • Grades K - 3: Meeting grade level benchmark on iReady Early Literacy Tasks or iReady Diagnostic Assessment in Reading

  • Grades 4 - 6: Meeting grade level benchmark on iReady Early Literacy Tasks or iReady Diagnostic Assessment in Reading or achieving a score of Standards Met or Exceeded on CAASPP

  • Grades 7 - 12: Achieving a score of Standards Met or Exceeded on CAASPP or

    Score of ‘On Watch’ or higher on STAR Reading assessment

Parent/Caregiver Storybook Series at Sumner Danbury “The Shark that Taught Me English” Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 8:30am in the Multi-Purpose Room. 

Open to all English Learner Families, register in advance. In this interactive learning series, you will learn about Sofia who does not speak a word of English, until one day, her teacher develops a method to help Sofia understand English. We will share resources, and you will get to keep the book to share with your family.
