Highlights From Across the Claremont Unified School District
From the Dest of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jim Elsasser

Dear Claremont Unified School District Community,

As we embark on the 2024-2025 school year, I am thrilled to welcome our students, families, and staff back to another year of learning, growth, and achievement. The start of a new school year always brings a sense of excitement and possibility, and I am optimistic about what we will accomplish together in the months ahead.

At Claremont USD, our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment remains at the heart of everything we do. This year, we continue to focus on our core values of Excellence, Equity, Innovation, and Integrity as we work to ignite curiosity, strengthen resilience, and inspire excellence in each student's academic journey.

We are excited to introduce several new opportunities across our district. At El Roble Intermediate and Claremont High School, new dance classes will allow students to explore the arts, express themselves creatively, and discover new talents. San Antonio High School is launching dual enrollment classes with Citrus College, allowing students to earn college credits while still in high school. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to get a head start on their futures.

I’m pleased to share exciting updates regarding Claremont High School’s facilities. The new softball field is complete and ready for our athletes, with the team room and storage shed set to follow later this year. The music building is undergoing significant upgrades, including an updated restroom and staff offices, enhanced fire alarm, and new doors, hardware, cabinetry, flooring, and HVAC units. These improvements will significantly enhance the learning environment for our students and staff. During the renovation, choral music students are meeting in a temporary portable classroom on the west side of the 800 quad, and band students are utilizing the former fitness lab south of the small gym.

We are also proud of our expanding dual immersion program at Mountain View Elementary, where students are becoming bilingual and biliterate—skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. The inaugural class is moving into 4th grade! Additionally, our after-school program is expanding with the merger of the Woodcraft Rangers and BLAST programs, offering a comprehensive, enriched experience supporting academic and personal development.

Families, your partnership is essential to our students' success. Your involvement and encouragement significantly contribute to their academic achievements and personal growth. Together, we are building a strong, vibrant community where every student can thrive.

As we begin this new school year, let us embrace the opportunities ahead with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to our students' success. I look forward to witnessing the incredible accomplishments our students and staff will achieve this year.

On behalf of the Board of Education, thank you for your continued support of Claremont Unified School District. Here's to a memorable and fulfilling 2024-2025 school year!

Sincerely,

Dr. James Elsasser
